Perfect Lander — Help
Controls, camera modes, HUD, and tips for a perfect landing.
How a mission works
- Ride — you are aboard the aircraft. Adjust jump heading (←/→) and push (↑/↓), then press Space to jump. If you wait too long the jump happens automatically after 16 seconds.
- Freefall — you are falling. Press Space to deploy the parachute. It deploys automatically at the safe altitude if you hold out.
- Canopy — steer with ←/→, flare with ↑ to slow down, dive with ↓ to speed up. Land on the orange circle.
Controls
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Space / J / Enter | Jump from aircraft |
| Space / D | Deploy parachute (freefall only) |
| ← / → (or A / D) | Steer canopy left / right; adjust jump heading during the ride |
| ↑ / ↓ (or W / S) | Flare and slow / dive and speed up; adjust jump push during the ride |
| C / 1 / 2 / 3 | Cycle cameras / LanderCam / DroneCam / AeroplaneCam |
| Q / E | Rotate AeroplaneCam view left / right |
| + / − | Zoom in / zoom out |
| Shift + ↑ / ↓ | Tilt camera up / down |
| H | Toggle detailed HUD |
| P | Pause / resume |
| R | Reset camera tilt and zoom |
| M / Esc | Open settings (pauses) / resume |
| F | Toggle fullscreen |
Camera Modes
- 1 – LanderCam
- First-person headcam. View follows heading direction. Player mesh is hidden.
- 2 – DroneCam
- Chase camera behind and above. Shows the lander, the parachute canopy, and the landing zone.
- 3 – AeroplaneCam
- Camera attached to the orbiting aircraft. Shows the full landscape. Rotate view with Q / E.
Flight Aids
- Target compass — the dial at the top of the screen always points toward the landing circle relative to your travel direction, with the remaining distance below it.
- Touchdown marker — the pulsing cyan ring on the ground shows where your current drift would put you. Steer until it sits on the orange circle.
- Gale streaks — fast white streaks in the air mark the altitude band with violent wind. The WIND row turns red (GALE!) while you are inside it.
- Personal best — your closest successful landing for the current settings combo is saved on this device and shown on the result card.
HUD
The panel in the top-left shows live telemetry. Press H for the detailed view.
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| TIME | Elapsed time since mission start |
| DIST | Straight-line distance to the landing circle |
| ALT | Altitude above ground level (turns amber, then red, near the ground) |
| SPD | Total airspeed |
| H-SPD | Horizontal ground speed (detailed HUD) |
| WIND | Wind speed at your current altitude |
| DIR | Wind compass direction (detailed HUD) |
Landing Rules
- Land inside the orange circle for a Perfect Lander rating.
- Near the circle: Amazing Lander, Decent Lander, or Lander — the closer, the better.
- Touching trees, forest, sea, lake, or rocks = failed landing. Watch for sharks in the sea.
- Too fast at touchdown — vertically or horizontally — is a failed landing. Flare (↑) before the ground.
Tips
- Watch the WIND row — wind speed and direction change with altitude, and one layer hides a violent gale (look for the white streaks).
- Point at the circle early, then keep the cyan touchdown marker on the target as the wind pushes you around.
- Sound effects (wind rush, canopy snap, thunder) can be switched off in Mission Settings.
- Flare (↑) in the last seconds: it slows both vertical and horizontal speed for a soft touchdown.
- Use DroneCam for situational awareness, LanderCam to judge the final approach.
- Deserts, roads, and rocks generate thermals — rising air that slows your descent when you fly over them.
